Overview
The research in the center focuses on the study of the effects of social and cultural factors on mental health with specific interest in implicit cognitive processes and their effect on identity formation and mental health. We are particularly interested in the field of mental health disparities with the goal of improving the access, equity and quality of these services for disadvantaged and minority populations.
The laboratory is currently involved in several research projects:
• Mechanisms rooted in the patient-provider interaction that contribute the mental health disparities
• Mental health needs and service utilization of irregular migrants
• Mental health disparities in addressing the need of persons with cancer
• Reliability and validity of dimensional diagnosis for DSM Axis I diagnoses
